On December 14, EuRailCo has started up MittelrheinBahn, its new regional passenger railway operation in Germany.
The MittelrheinBahn line serves in North Rhineland – Westphalia and Rhineland – Palatinate, the left bank of the Rhine between Köln, Koblenz and Mainz.
Trans Regio, a 75 % subsidiary of EuRailCo, operates this new line. This new contract, worth approximately € 550 Million, on 15 years, gives EuRailCo-Trans Regio a considerable growth in activity and allows the company to significantly position itself in the field of electrical regional rail services. Approx. € 100 Million have been invested for this new operation. This latter reinforces in a spectacular way the presence of EuRailCo – Trans Regio in these regions and places it under excellent conditions to continue to develop locally and on other German regional railway markets.
François-Xavier Perin, Chairman of EuRailCo, says: “EuRailCo further confirms its ambition to become one of the European passenger railway operators, thus taking full advantage of synergies developed with the confirmed expertise of its two shareholders”.
